Weddings in February

Did you know that February is National Wedding Month? June holds the distinction of being the month when the most weddings take place, but February is a great time to tie the knot, too.

Some couples long for a romantic Valentine's Day ceremony. Others like the idea of getting married while there's snow on the ground, and still others take the opportunity to escape to a warmer climate for a destination wedding. Here are some of the best places for weddings in February.

• Florida - If you want to get married where it's warm without leaving the country, Florida is one of your best options. While you probably won't encounter good swimming weather, it's entirely possible to have a beach wedding. Or if you prefer, you could have a magical fairytale ceremony at Disney World without having to deal with the crowds you would encounter during the busy season. Estate wedding sites in the state include Crosley Estate in Palmetto, Deering Estate in Miami and Cypress Grove Park in Orlando.

• Vermont - The mountains of Vermont are absolutely breathtaking in the winter, making it the perfect destination for those who desire a true winter wedding. The state is home to countless inns, hotels and bed and breakfast establishments that allow weddings. Green Mountain Inn in Stowe offers a choice of four venues that can accommodate up to 85 guests. Lilac Inn in Brandon is another beautiful site that offers a variety of wedding packages for up to 130 guests.

• The Southwest – For those who like the idea of getting married in the southwestern United States, February is a great time to do so. High temperatures are usually in the 60s, allowing the possibility of an outdoor ceremony. And the most popular tourist attractions are much less crowded this time of year, so if you dream of tying the knot at the Grand Canyon, you won’t have to deal with huge crowds of onlookers. Venues to consider in the southwest include the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, the V. Sattui Winery in Napa Valley and Saguaro Buttes in Tucson.

• Colorado – Colorado is a prime ski destination in the winter. That means that there are plenty of resorts and accommodations, many of which offer wedding packages. Options in the Denver area include the historic Brown Palace Hotel and The Crystal Rose, which has four beautiful sites to choose from. Rocky Mountain Lodge near Colorado Springs is a great rustic venue. Lionscrest Manor near Boulder offers lovely mountain views and a variety of wedding packages.

Getting married in February isn’t for everyone. But if you love snow, or if you want to get married in a warmer area during the off season, February is ideal. Just remember to be prepared for the possibility of late-winter weather surprises!
