Wedding Venues in Ohio

Wondering where to have a wedding in Ohio? Fortunately, the state of Ohio has many fabulous wedding sites. Unfortunately, you can only pick one! So, where to choose?

Outdoor Weddings

Depending on the season, outdoor weddings can be incredibly romantic, and Ohio has numerous gardens and wineries to choose from for that perfect outdoor wedding site, as well as a beach setting along Lake Erie.

Ohio Garden Weddings

A few of the standout garden wedding venues in Ohio include the following:

Dawes Arboretum in Newark, Ohio

Located 35 miles east of Columbus, the Dawes Arboretum is situated on nearly 1,800 acres and features eight miles of hiking trails and more than 15,000 living plants, with interesting areas such as the Japanese Garden, Deep Woods and Dutch Fork Wetlands. They say their Observation Tower offers an amazing view.

The Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio

Located 25 miles east of Cleveland, the Holden Arboretum is situated on 3,600 acres, making it one of the largest arboreta in the U.S. Wedding sites within the Arboretum include the Holden Butterfly Garden, with a deck over the pond; Layer Rhododendron Garden with a gazebo and bridge; and the Holden Display Garden with gazebo and reflection pond.

Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus

Built in 1895, the Franklin Park Conservatory is a wonderful place for a wedding. Situated within the 88 acres of Franklin Park, the Conservatory houses 400 species of plants from a variety of global climate zones. Among its many interesting features is the Victorian Palm House, a greenhouse with more than 40 species of palms. They offer many different wedding venues, including the Palm House with iron gazebos and Venetian-style fountain, as well as the Brides Garden which is a great setting for an intimate wedding. You may also want to consider the Zen Terrace, a rooftop venue which overlooks the Bonsai Courtyard and features a Zen garden with tall bamboo and wall of Bonsai.

Rockefeller Greenhouse in Cleveland

The Rockefeller Greenhouse and grounds features seasonal floral displays and theme gardens, including a Japanese Garden with a bamboo hut and pond and Peace Garden with gazebo and rose gardens. While they have no facilities for receptions, they do offer their facilities for wedding ceremonies and wedding photos, and can accommodate up to 75 guests for outdoor weddings and 50 guests for indoor weddings. You can't beat the price! As of June, 2010, the fees for a wedding ceremony are just $150 for Cleveland residents and $175 for non-residents! Do check for current pricing.



Wineries Weddings in Ohio

Yes, Virginia, there are wineries in Ohio! And, many of them offer their facilities for weddings. While this category is under the Outdoor Weddings heading, some of the facilities offer indoor as well as outdoor venues. A few standout Ohio winery wedding venues include:

Chalet Debonne - Madison, Ohio

Chalet Debonne is one of the 19 wineries of the “Wine and Vine Trail” along Ohio’s eastern Lake Erie shore. Just an hour east of Cleveland, Chalet Debonne is one of the largest of Ohio’s eastern Lake Erie wineries, best known for their Riesling and Ice wine. Their wedding venues include an outdoor gazebo with views of the hills and vineyards, as well as the private cellar tasting room, with a fireplace and oak floors.

Another winery along the Lake Erie Shore, The Lakehouse Inn is a bed and breakfast and winery on the southern shore on the west end of Geneva-on-the-Lake, which, FYI, is Ohio's first summer resort area. Located just 50 miles east of Cleveland, the area is perfect for Cleveland couples wanting a nearby winery setting. Lakefront ceremonies can accommodate up to 100 guests in June and September and up to 50 guests in July and August.

The only working winery in Hamilton County, Vinoklet Winery and Restaurant is situated on 30 acres of rolling hills and lakes. And, just FYI, their restaurant has been voted "Most Romantic Restaurant" by Cincinnati Magazine. Have your wedding overlooking their heart-shaped lake.

Hot Air Balloon Weddings

You can't get anymore "outdoor" than a hot air balloon wedding! And, what better place than Hocking Hills for a lovely scenic balloon ride? Hocking Hills Hot Air Ballooning offers a couple different hot air balloon wedding packages, a basic as well as a more feature-loaded package which includes a one-night stay in a honeymoon suite. Ohio Beach Weddings

Want a fabulous Ohio beach wedding venue? Consider the Firefly Beach Resort on the shores of Lake Erie in Huron, Ohio. The resort boasts over 5 acres, with vintage summer cabins, a private sandy beach and their on-site Erie Kai Tavern. For weddings, the resorts offer couples sites at the water's edge, or on their lawn which overlooks Lake Erie.
