NC Beach Weddings North Carolina is blessed with many wonderful locations for beach weddings. On this page we'll focus on two general areas: the Brunswick Islands and the Outer Banks. Brunswick Islands The Brunswick Islands is a group of narrow, barrier islands in the southeastern corner of North Carolina, and includes beaches and towns perfect for your wedding, such as:
Ocean Isle Beach Ocean Isle Beach is situated between Holden Beach and Sunset Beach and boasts 8 miles of gorgeous beaches. Activities in the area include parasailing and sea turtle watching during the months of May through October, and wine tasting at the nearby Silver Coast Winery. Couples looking for wedding venues in the area might want to check out The Winds Resort Beach Club, which offers a number of beach rentals and vacation homes, as well as an oceanfront hotel and resort cottages. For couples they offer several wedding packages from an intimate ceremony on the beach to a beach wedding and reception in their facilities. For more information you can contact their events coordinator at cherylwilson@thewinds.com. Another Ocean Isle Beach venue is The Islander Inn, which offers a wide beach as well as an ocean-front gazebo for wedding ceremonies. You can discover more about this wedding venue by going to their website at www.oceanfrontweddingsnc.com/ceremony-islander.php. Southport Southport's not only charming, but it's also historic. Located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River, Southport's been around since 1741, having flown the flags of Spain, England and America. You can have your beach wedding at Southport with a company called Priority Sailing, which provides beach weddings as well as weddings on the sea. You can check them out at www.prioritysailing.com. Sunset Beach Located between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, Sunset Beach in North Carolina is only 3 miles in length, yet, offers one of the widest beaches on the east coast. It's the southern-most island in North Carolina, and boasts North Carolina's only floating bridge still in operation. It's called Sunset Beach for a reason - due to the island's unique positioning, both sunrises and sunsets can be seen over the water several months of the year. One possible wedding venue to look into is the Sunset Inn, which offers receptions for up to 100 people. Their website is www.thesunsetinn.net Bald Head Island No-cars-allowed Bald Head Island is reachable only by ferry. Once a hideout for pirates like Blackbeard, Bald Head Island can be your North Carolina beach wedding hideout. And, what better place to get married than on the grounds of Old Baldy, North Carolina's oldest standing lighthouse! Weddings on the lighthouse grounds are planned by wedding planners or the BHI (Bald Head Island) Hospitality staff. You can contact the lighthouse at info@oldbaldy.org. The Outer Banks The Outer Banks is a 200-mile long string of narrow barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. Beginning in the southeastern corner of Virginia Beach on the east coast, the Outer Banks covers about half the northern North Carolina coastline and compromises several major tourist destinations:
For those couples wanting a luxurious Outer Banks wedding venue, you may want to check out the Sanderling resort in Duck, North Carolina. The Sanderling Resort is located between the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Currituck Sound. It boasts a luxurious spa, as well as tennis and fitness facilities, and features a fabulous variety of ceremony and reception sites from which to choose, including the beach, gazebo, with Currituck Sound as your backdrop, and the Soundside Pavilion, offering spectacular sunset views. For those couples wishing an intimate ceremony, Sanderling Resort also offers an elopement package which includes, among other things, a 3-course wine-paired dinner, a 2-tier wedding cake and an ocean-view room for two nights for the bride and groom. For more information go to their website at www.thesanderling.com. And, finally, for couples wishing something a little out of the ordinary might want to consider the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. Not only are aquariums fun venues, they provide interesting backdrops for those special wedding photos. You can rent the entire Aquarium so your guests have access to all the exhibits, or specific locations, such as individual rooms or foyers. You can even provide your guests with special "behind the scenes" tours of the aquarium. And, remember, a wedding at the Aquarium is not only unique, but also benefits the Aquarium's future programs. For more information, go to their website at www.ncaquariums.com/roanoke-island. Synonyms: NC is synonymous with North Carolina and northcarolina.
