Wedding Venues in Louisiana

Louisiana hosts a variety of wedding destinations and venues as unique as the state itself. If you’re interested in saying your vows in the Bayou State, here are some of the best places to do so.

New Orleans – The largest city in Louisiana, New Orleans is perhaps best known as the host of the annual Mardi Gras festival. Its location at the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico makes for lovely wedding scenery and a wealth of recreation options, and its cityscape boasts a variety of architectural styles. Two of the French Quarter’s top hotels, Le Pavillon and the Ritz-Carlton, offer elegant ballrooms that make gorgeous wedding venues. The Federal Ballroom is another luxurious wedding spot. A popular alternative for smaller weddings is the Old New Orleans Rum Distillery, which can accommodate anywhere from ten to 300 guests.

Baton Rouge – Baton Rouge is Louisiana’s capital and second largest city. A busy port and college town, it has a vibrant visual and performing arts scene. One of the city’s most prominent wedding venues is Ashley Manor, which offers indoor and outdoor sites for ceremonies large and small. Calloway Inn and Suites has banquet rooms that can hold up to 200 guests. And Desert Plantation in nearby St. Francisville is an idyllic location for an outdoor wedding with its beautiful pond and ancient oaks.

Shreveport – Located near the Arkansas and Texas borders, Shreveport is well known for its music scene and riverfront casino district. The city has also been the setting for a number of popular films in recent years, including The Guardian, Soul Men and Straw Dogs. Among its most beautiful wedding venues is the American Rose Center, which features dozens of gorgeous rose gardens, a rustic chapel and a large reception hall. Another elegant location is the Silver Lake Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 guests.

Lafayette – A popular tourist destination, Lafayette is revered for its Cajun culture and cuisine. It is also a bustling retail center and nightlife hub. Magnolia Court is one of Lafayette’s most popular wedding venues and offers beautiful indoor and outdoor facilities. The Crossing at Mervine Kahn has an intimate wedding chapel and a larger space that can accommodate as many as 800 guests. Those who prefer a historic setting will love Maison De Tours, a restored 1885 mansion.

Louisiana has a very rich and distinct culture, thanks to its mixture of French, Spanish, Native American and African influences, so a Louisiana wedding is sure to be unique and memorable. The state has its own unique accent and dialect of the English language, as well as a separate language that is spoken by a large portion of the population known as Louisiana Creole. It also hosts a number of unique music styles, including Cajun, blues, zydeco, Dixieland jazz, Bounce and sludge metal.

The above wedding destinations offer a wealth of options for your ceremony, and you might just want to stay for your honeymoon, too!
