Perhaps a traditional wedding or larger planned destination wedding is not for you. Maybe you and your fiance' just want to be spontaneous and elope!
With eloping you don't have to worry about costs getting out of control, or whose feelings will be hurt by not being invited. You also have enormous flexibility and can really let your creativity go wild.

Of course, the big plus is the lower cost. Currently, the average cost for a wedding in the U.S. is approaching $30,000. The average honeymoon costs over $4,500. With an inexpensive elopement ceremony you can skip the costs of the big ceremony and reception and go right into the honeymoon.
Of course, there may be some family and friends who resent not being invited to your wedding. Many couples help smooth hurt feelings by having a party after their return from their elopement/honeymoon.
Where are the best places to elope?
Again, the best places are the ones that make you happy. But, there are some places which have developed a booming industry for eloping couples. These places include:

But, really, any place can be a great place to elope, as long as you can find a wedding officiant willing to meet you there. To make things super easy, many Bed and Breakfast's across the United States are beginning to offer simple, inexpensive elopement packages for just the bride and groom, arranging everything from the wedding officiant to the photographer.

The Bellagio is an incredible venue for your Las Vegas elopement, particularly if you combine the ceremony with a stay in one of the Bellagio rooms facing the fountain and the Las Vegas Strip.
They offer an "Amore Package," available Monday through Thursday, 10AM to 5PM, which includes, among other things:

The Rainbow House Bed & Breakfast is located on the New York side of Niagara Falls. It is a century-old Victorian home decorated with antique and hand painted furniture, with pictures and memorabilia of Niagara Falls.
They offer an elopement package called "A Romantic Wedding," which includes a ceremony in the Rainbow Chapel or any number of outdoor locations, including at the brink of the falls, at the upper rapids, above the Bridal Veil Falls, or in the Great Lakes Gardens. The ceremony is quite reasonable ($149 as of this writing, but do check for current pricing), but does not include an officiant. You may inquire with the Rainbow House staff for any recommendations regarding officiants. Photography, videography, flowers and a cake are extra, but, again, the prices are quite reasonable.
